Walls that are tilting or bowing are dangerous. This type of damage is often seen in the basement and/or foundation walls, and is usually caused by the soil surrounding the structure. Clay soil, for example, is a soil that will absorb a lot of water. All of this water absorption causes the soil to expand and push against your wall. Eventually, this can cause cracks and bowing. Bowing will lead to collapse if left untreated..

Strengthening Walls with GeoLock®

Foundation repair is not a D.I.Y. job for weekend warriors. It should always be left to professionals. The consequences of not performing foundation repair correctly could lead to unsafe conditions in your home that could lead to further issues or collapse. At KC Waterproofing, one way that we use to resolve bowing wall issues is by anchoring your walls with GeoLock®.

The GeoLock® system is made from heavy-duty, galvanized steel, with one side embedded into the soil and the other installed onto the wall. With this setup, your bowing or tilting walls will straighten overtime and gradually fortify itself each time it is raised. This system can be installed at almost any time of the year, and therefore is a great option for those looking to quickly resolve problems. This system has many benefits like:

  • Year-round service
  • Fast installment time (usually finishes in one day)
  • Does not severely damage your lawn and landscaping
  • Has the ability to straighten your walls
  • Easy to conceal
  • Does not need any future maintenance
  • Boost/restores your property’s value
  • Prevents your walls from further tilting
  • Does not require any floor joists for support

Wall Anchor Installation Process

When you decide to have the wall anchor system installed, KC Waterproofing will perform the following steps.

Step 1: Carefully remove sod and mark an earth anchor hole.

Step 2: Small holes are drilled through the wall so that the rod can be driven out.

Step 3: Install the earth anchor and attach it to the rod.

Step 4: Attach a wall plate to seat the earth anchor.

Step 5: Fill the hole and replace the sod.

Step 6: Tighten the anchors gradually to make walls as plum as possible.
