The Air Mop® 30

Applications
The Air Mop® 30 Heavy Duty Industrial/Marine Basement Dehumidifier, is a no-nonsense, portable dehumidifier at home in hostile industrial, marine or subterranean environments. It is ideal for eliminating damp musty air from your basement. It is also ideal for finished or unfinished areas, insuring a dry basement environment. You can rely on this durable unit to perform faithfully without complicated maintenance or costly downtime.
Just set it and forget it.

Features

  • An adjustable humidistat to control the level of dryness.
  • A convenient drainport for hose attachment and draining to our Water Trek® system or a drywell.
  • A unique "Hot Gas" defrosting feature which automatically melts away frost buildup providing effective operation at ambient temperatures down to 33° F
  • Sturdy military-type carrying handles. Totally enclosed coils in an epoxy-coated, heavy gauge steel case.

Performance

Under operating conditions of 80° F and 60% Relative Humidity (a standard used for comparative performance of industrial dehumidifiers), the Air Mop® 30 Heavy Duty Industrial/Marine Dehumidifier will remove more than 17 pints of harmful water vapor per day. In extreme environments, nearly 4 gallons per day can be efficiently removed.
The Air Mop® 30 Heavy Duty Industrial/ Marine Dehumidifier is definitely not "another pretty face" but a tough, self-sufficient performer.

Operation Specifications
The effective answer to excessive humidity is a refrigeration-type dehumidifier. Warm moist air is drawn by a fan across a cold coil which causes the water vapor to condense onto the coil and drop into a container or tray. The cold air is then passed over a heat exchanger where it is warmed before being passed back into the surrounding area. Our dehumidifier has a humidistat which automatically switches on and off to save energy and expense by maintaining the desired level of humidity with intermittent operation.

Mold and mildew has become a considerable health concern in the last decade. Realization of the dangers has homeowners concerned. Thousands of people are hospitalized annually for mold related injuries. Although no one can guarantee mold will not grow, the origins of mold can be eliminated. Mold and mildew thrive in subterranean damp environments and basements are a breeding ground for these organisms. Ground water infiltration and leaking pipes need to be addressed first, but also dampness in the air, which can create mold growth that requires remediation.

Psychometry: the engineering science of drying a structure.

In order to achieve a psychometric solution, four (4) things need to be addressed:

1) Air drying
2) Moisture on surfaces
3) Air movement
4) Temperature of air

"The Science of Drying"

KC Building Solutions has developed a psychometric (drying a structure) solution that effectively addresses these four issues. The Air Mop® 30 and The Bon Aire™ systems are combined to create an effective double solution (Please see our supplemental Bon Aire flyer provided).

  1. Air drying - The Air Mop® 30 is designed to dry the air and bring relative humidity to 55%, the acceptable industry standard.
  2. Moisture on surfaces - Moisture on surfaces needs to be dried by air movement (circulation). A "double solution" combines air flow from the upstairs to the basement, (normally lost by the whole house effect) and replaces the heaviest moist air from the lowest point in the house with the upstairs air, thereby, creating the necessary air circulation to remove moisture from surfaces. The fan from the Air Mop® 30 supplements the drying of basement surfaces.
  3. Air movement - Air movement is achieved by the combination of the Air Mop® 30 and the Bon Aire™ The Air Mop® 30 has a fan (blower) that circulates the dried air and the Bon Aire™ pulls in warm air from upstairs and discharges the moist air from the basement, creating an air exchange.
  4. Temperature of air - The necessary supply of warm dry air (from the upper rafters of your home), normally lost by the whole house effect, is obtained by the Bon Aire which effectively circulates air throughout the levels of your home at 72°F and above; the industries standard temperature for drying.

Air Mop® 30 with the Bon Aim

Only KC Building Solutions offers the ultimate in dehumidification and clean, dry air for your basement environment - the combination of the Air Mop® 30 and the Bon Aire™. The Air Mop® 30 dries the air and removes harmful water vapor. It turns the water vapor to a liquid and in turn, drains the water to your Water Trek system or drywell beneath the floor.

50% - 55% relative humidity and 72°F is the ideal for drying structures. No one can guarantee that mold will not grow but addressing the mechanics of psychometry and controlling relative humidity and temperature will help to keep your living environment safer and drier. Drier, less humid air is more cost effective when using air conditioning - effectively keeping electricity costs down.

The Air Mop® 30 and the Bon Aire™ have electronic controls that automatically shut the units off when they are not needed creating a "set it and forget it" worry free atmosphere in your home.
